Every once in a while, there's a technology or idea that makes you wonder if it's amazingly awesome or just plain weird.
Wakie is one of those. It's a "social" app in that it lets strangers call to wake people up. I honestly can't tell if it's a great idea or not. On the one hand, it lets you meet new people along with an actionable task. On the other hand, it's kind of creepy to be woken up by a stranger. I imagine that the majority of the people would not be as attractive as the models use for their screenshots.
When Twitter first came out, people couldn't tell if it was cool or not. I thought Twitter was interesting, but like most people, didn't think it was world-changing. Now, Twitter is a common way to hear about the latest news and updates. Is Wakie world-changing? I don't think so, but the idea of harnessing social networks beyond sharing economy like accommodations (AirBnB) and rides (Uber) to services like wake-up call is definitely interesting.
