Aging

Aging,

I look to the horizon,
Clouds of confusion.

The deadline looms near,
Borders are drawn,
The forked road remains.

To genuflect home,
Crawl back to infancy,
Poisons my soul.

To stand proud,
Satiate my pride,
Starves my body.

Ambitions of the spirit,
Necessities of the flesh,
Cast shadows over my mind.

I lie in a drunken state,
Neither asleep nor awake,
Just being.

Human and being,
Billions of atoms colliding within,
Dying.
